LEAGUE CITY — The first in a pair of public meetings on League City’s new solid waste services contract is scheduled for today.
Residents and business owners will be able to give their thoughts on what the rates should be for residential and commercial costumers before the city council makes a final decision.
City council gave preliminary approval to a five-year, nearly $30 million solid waste and recycling services contract with Republic Waste Services last month. The new contract reflects an increase of about 10 percent in costs.
Six companies — Republic Waste Services, Nexus Disposal, Progressive Waste Solutions, Waste Management, Waste Connections and current provider Ameriwaste — turned in bids for the waste and recycling contract.
