LEAGUE CITY — A man accused of burglarizing automobiles admitted to police he shot at one of the owners, testimony in the defendant’s murder trial revealed Wednesday.
Erick Herman Santos-Valdez, 20, drove two friends from Houston to League City, where they planned to steal valuables from unlocked cars, the defendant told police in a video recorded statement played for the jury on Wednesday.
Prosecutors Bill Reed and Vikram Vij played a video recording of Santos-Valdez’s June 6, 2011, interview with League City police after he was arrested on an aggravated robbery charge. Santos-Valdez initially denied shooting anyone and having a 9 mm handgun.
