LA MARQUE — A jury was expected today to resume deliberating the fate of a teenage boy charged with capital murder in the death of a woman who was stabbed 28 times.
Jor’Dan Jacqueinn Maurice Lewis, 16, pleaded not guilty in the May 29, 2011, slaying of Vaneeda Wright, 84. Wright’s daughter and young grandson found her body in her Prune Street home in La Marque.
Prosecutors accused Lewis of killing Wright in the course of a robbery. They showed the jury of eight women and four men crime-scene photographs of Wright’s body in a pool of blood on her kitchen floor. A butcher knife, one of three weapons used in the attack, remained embedded in her cheek.
