TEXAS CITY — The Krystal Baker murder case will get some national attention tonight when it is featured on the Investigation Discovery Channel’s series “Nightmare Next Door.”

Producers from the show were in town last year to record segments, including interviews with Baker’s mother Jeanie Escamilla, Chamber’s County Sheriff’s Office Detective Sherry Willcox, who was responsible to giving the DNA one last try, and other investigators with the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office.

The 13-year-old Baker was kidnapped from Texas City, then raped, murdered and her body dumped under a Chambers County bridge in 1996. Her murder was classified as a cold case until 2010 when DNA tests linked evidence found on Baker’s body to Kevin Edison Smith, who was convicted last year.
