HOUSTON – Kindred Hospital was forced to evacuate early Sunday morning after losing power due to severe weather in east Houston.

Hospital officials said that at about 1:30 a.m. the hospital, located on the East Freeway near the Sam Houston Parkway, lost power and the backup generator failed to properly connect.

All of the patients were evacuated to neighboring Kindred hospitals in Clear Lake and Baytown, officials said.

Power has since been restored, and the generator is working properly, officials said. Once testing is complete, patients will be returned to the hospital.
