KATY, Texas -- A boy from Katy and his mother were among those hurt in the Boston Marathon bombings.
Neighbors say a 5-year-old boy and his mother were in the stands at the finish line when the bombs went off on Monday.
They were both badly wounded, and in the chaos were taken to different hospitals.
A family friend said the mother had surgery on her leg on Wednesday. Both mom and son are expected to make full recoveries and remain hospitalized.
The boy is a kindergartener at Cimarron Elementary.
The principal has sent home a note saying that a grief counselor is available to students.
