GALVESTON — The city of Galveston will enact Stage 2 drought plans Friday, according to a news release sent out by the city Wednesday evening.
Stage 2 restrictions limit the times and days property owners can use automatic sprinkler systems.
Watering from hose-end or automatic sprinklers will be limited to Tuesdays and Thursdays for homes and businesses east of 103rd Street and to Wednesdays and Friday for those west of 103rd Street.
All watering must be done before 10 a.m. or after 8 p.m. Watering using a hand-held hose or watering can is allowed at any time on the designated days.
The restrictions also apply to washing private vehicles, including cars and boats, only on the allowed days and only with bucket or hose with a shut-off nozzle. Commercial carwashes are not affected.
In addition, swimming pools can only be filled during the designated days and times; filling ornamental fountains or ponds with potable water is prohibited; the use of fire hydrants will be limited to fire fighting; and watering at golf courses is limited to the designated day. Restaurants will only be allowed to serve potable water to patrons upon request.
