MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas -- A fatal crash involving five vehicles shut down I-45 southbound north of Conroe early Thursday.
Houston TranStar reported the crash at FM 830 around 5:24 a.m.
At least one person died in the crash, authorities said.
As of 8 a.m. the freeway remained shut down, and traffic was backed up nearly four miles into Willis.
Authorities said a car struck the rear of the FedEx truck, causing the truck to flip onto its side. Three other vehicles struck the 18-wheeler in a chain reaction crash.
The freeway reopened shortly after 10 a.m.
