There is Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and for the second year, Giving Tuesday. It’s a movement to create a national day of giving, to kick off the giving season, and more and more companies are offering products that work double duty.

“You are going to be giving a gift to the person you want to give a gift too,” said Kelly Davis. “And you’re also giving a gift to a person in need.”

Davis, founder of Houston Moms Blog, highlighted some gifts that double giving mileage, starting with T-shirts made by Who and You.

Each shirt is designed by artists all over the country, including Houston.

When one is purchased for $42, a second t-shirt is made and donated to a person in need, in the artist’s city.

As a stocking stuffer, Davis suggested toothbrushes by Smiles for the People.

They are made out of bamboo and ergonomically designed, with colorful bristles.

“They are beautiful toothbrushes,” Davis said.

For every $6 dollar tooth brush purchased, the same amount of money is put toward dental care for needy people in Argentina.

The company WINK – When in Need of Kindness – sells chic bags of beauty products for $40, and then donates a bag of toiletries to the Ronald McDonald, a charity close to Davis’ heart.

“My son was born with a rare birth defect,” Davis said. ”We stayed at the Ronald McDonald House for a month. You are focused 110% on your child and you don’t think about the most simple, basic needs.”

Kutoa means “to give” in Swahili, and it’s also the name of a nutrition bar that also has a one-for-one business model.

For every pack of bars sold for $25.99, a nutrition pack is given to a child suffering from malnutrition around the world.

“My family and I love the chocolate banana bars and we fight over them,” joked Davis.
