HOUSTON – A local bowling alley is holding an event Tuesday to raise funds to replace a Buffalo Bayou Partnership boat that was burned down earlier this year.
Over the Fourth of July weekend, vandals set fire to The Osprey, a pontoon boat used by the Buffalo Bayou Partnership to give tours of the bayou. The blaze also caused significant damage to the Bio Vac, a custom-made vessel designed to clean trash out of the waterway. It will cost Buffalo Bayou Partnership up to $60,000 to replace The Osprey.
On Tuesday, Lucky Strike Lanes and Lounge will host "Bowling for Boats" to help raise funds for a new tour boat. Each $25 donation includes bowling, shoes and refreshments from St. Arnold’s Brewery and Deep Eddy Sweet Tea Vodka. 100 percent of the proceeds will go towards buying a new boat. The event runs from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
