HOUSTON – The city of Houston will soon be offering free rides in the downtown area.

City officials announced the new Greenlink bus service Monday morning.

Buses on the 2.5-mile route will stop at major office buildings along Smith and Louisiana and connect riders to Metro transit, the convention corridor, hotels and the Houston Civic Center.

The new environmentally-friendly buses will hit the streets next May, according to officials.
