HOUSTON—A group of local middle school students returned to Houston Friday morning after a field trip to Boston turned into something they’ll never forget. The Grady Middle School students arrived at Bush Intercontinental Airport after being stranded, thanks to Superstorm Sandy.
The seventh and eighth- grade students were on a four-day filed trip, which turned into a week, when Sandy tore through the northeast and shut down the airport. The students were stuck in the hotel and said they had to get pretty creative when it came to clean clothes. Some students said they washed their clothes in the bathtub with soap and used the hair dryer to finish them off.
So that they did not fall behind in their school work, classes were held in a conference room at the hotel. The students said, while it was a little scary being away from their parents that long, they all had a good time.
