Galveston County voters without registration cards due to drawn-out redistricting

GALVESTON, Texas--Early voting for the municipal and school district elections start Monday, but about 60,000 Galveston County voters won’t have their voter registration cards in time to cast their ballots at the start of the election.

As long as voters are registered, they will be able to vote, but they will need to be prepared to have some form of identification in order to cast their ballot.

Blame the state and county’s drawn-out redistricting process and a less-than-ideal county vendor for the delay, county tax assessor/collector and the county’s voter registrar Cheryl Johnson said.
