LEAGUE CITY — New allegations of domestic violence surfaced against former Galveston County District Clerk Jason Murray, who was indicted on charges that he used a gun during an assault on his wife last year.
Murray, 38, remained jailed Tuesday on a $201,000 bond, following his Sunday booking into the Galveston County Jail on a felony charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
A grand jury on Friday indicted Murray in an April 9, 2011, incident at the couple’s former League City home, Galveston County Prosecutor James Haugh said.
Murray was elected in a 2010 countywide Republican landslide, but he resigned in April amid assault allegations.
Murray pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor family assault charge stemming from a Dec. 8 incident in which he struck his wife as they drove home from a party in Houston.’
