GALVESTON COUNTY, Texas—Budding Einsteins across Galveston County are putting the finishing touches on their science fair projects.

This is the 52nd year a science fair will be staged in the Clear Creek school district. The event has evolved, and a major change was made this year.

“In the past, doing a project that could be entered into science fair was a requirement for the pre-AP classes in grades 6 through 11,” CCISD secondary science coordinator Terri Berry said. “This year, we have pulled that requirement, so it is totally by choice. But we still have some outstanding projects that are coming in.

“We see their proposals ahead of time, and I read all of the high school proposals, and we have some absolutely top-notch outstanding projects that are going to be coming through the district fair this year.”

The change gives students a chance to pursue their own interests in their experiments.
