GALVESTON — A former deputy charged with sexually assaulting a child was cleared of wrongdoing, and the man wants his job back with the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office, authorities said Wednesday.
Miguel Zapata, 45, was arrested Feb. 13 on charges from Grand Prairie police accusing him of sexually assaulting a child, Maj. Ray Tuttoilmondo, a spokesman for the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement released Wednesday.
Zapata, who was hired with the sheriff’s office in September 2010, voluntarily resigned his position as a deputy as soon as he learned of the charges against him, Tuttoilmondo said.
