GALVESTON — Law enforcement agents disarmed a bomb found by a postal worker before it could do any damage.
Police responded Monday at 4:31 p.m. to an apartment complex in the 6900 block of Lasker Drive where they found a device that resembled a large, wrapped firecracker containing a fuse in the complex’s mailbox. The bomb could not be remotely detonated and could only be ignited by lighting the fuse, Galveston police Sgt. Doug Balli said.
Police summoned a regional bomb unit that used Texas City’s robot to disarm the device, Balli said.
