GALVESTON — The Texas Coast Boat and Outdoor Show was a major success, drawing hordes of boating enthusiasts to the Galveston Yacht Basin this weekend.
The crowds were thick and that brought a smile to boat show president Peter Bryant’s face.
“I’m very pleased,” he said. “It’s a first-time show and when you do something for the first time, you always hope you got it right and put it together right — and then you pray real hard.”
Bryant estimated attendance at the three-day event would number in the thousands.
“I would be happy, with a first-time show, to get between 5,000 and 10,000 people and I think we’re there,” he said.
The key to the boat show’s success was holding it under the clear, blue sky.
“Indoor boat shows are fine, but because we’re outdoors, it gives us the opportunity to do more things,” Bryant said.
