GALVESTON — Colorado authorities will soon extradite a woman who was arrested in Galveston on accusations she punished her son by placing him in scalding water.

Tanya Lake, 22, waived extradition Tuesday on a warrant charging her with child abuse, stemming from an April 3 incident at a Denver hotel in which her son, 4, suffered second- and third-degree burns to 57 percent of his body.

The boy urinated in his pants, and Lake told police she put him in the tub with the water running. She heard him yelling about 5 minutes later and saw him submerged up to his head, the affidavit states.
