GALVESTON — A lawsuit filed by a former transportation director accuses the Galveston school district and its superintendent of discrimination, saying the school system favors white job applicants.
The district had no comment on the lawsuit.
Attorney Anthony P. Griffin filed a lawsuit July 13 in Galveston’s federal court on behalf of Joe L. Alvarez, former director of transportation for the Galveston Independent School District. The district’s superintendent, Larry Nichols, also is named in the lawsuit.
Alvarez’s chief complaints include allegations that the district fired him but kept a less-qualified, white employee who replaced him.
