FRIENDSWOOD — Friendswood was ranked the 20th safest city in the country and second safest in Texas, according to Neighborhood Scout study.
Neighborhood Scout, a national data research firm based in Massachusetts, used 2011 FBI data relating to property and violent crimes per 1,000 residents to rank the safest cities with populations of more than 25,000.
The report looked at data on burglary, larceny-theft, motor vehicle theft, homicide, rape, armed robbery and aggravated assault, according to the company’s website. Friendswood was one of only five cities in Texas that cracked the top 100 safest list. The safest city in Texas was Little Elm, according to the report.
A different study of cities with populations greater than 75,000 published by CQ Press recently named League City the 68th safest city in the country. League City was not included in the Neighborhood Scout top 100 list.
