HOUSTON – A 44-year-old Houston father has an amazing weight-loss story. Leo Bourgeois says he shed 200 pounds and a host of health problems.
“At my heaviest I weighed 415 pounds,” said Bourgeois. “I graduated from high school at 190 pounds.”
His father died in 1987 and he gained 50 pounds. It triggered an avalanche of health problems.
“High blood pressure,” said Bourgeois.”I had diabetes and issues with the heart, high cholesterol, sleep apnea, and I have arthritis in the knees.”
The father of two decided to make a change in 2010. He had bariatric surgery. He ate less and exercised more.
Bourgeois lost 200 pounds, ran a marathon, and competed in the Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas Competition.
He is now off all medication, and feels better that he will be able to be around longer for his children.
