HOUSTON -- A former Houston hand surgeon is staying in jail, despite his pleas to get out because he claims the jail food made him sick.
Dr. Michael Brown was arrested last week for violating a court order relating to his child support case.
Court officials say he was taken to the hospital and was tested for E. coli poisoning, but a judge decided on Monday that he will have to stay in jail at least for now. He’s serving a 180-day sentence.
The results of the E. coli test have not been released.
The founder of the Brown Hand Center has had a slew of legal problems, including losing his medical license after testing positive for cocaine.
