NORTHWEST HARRIS COUNTY, Texas -- Bad weather in the Houston area is being blamed on a house fire.
The fire started just after 5:30 p.m. on Bo Jack Drive near Jersey Village.
Either high wind or lighting knocked down a tree in the backyard.
Leslie McGuire heard it snap from next door.
"We heard a big loud crash and saw the tree that fell," McGuire said. "It hit our back fence and hit the power lines on the way down."
The fire spread quickly through the Cooper's home and the couple was inside. Both use walkers and needed help getting out.
McGuire's husband rushed into the home and managed to get the elderly couple out.
It took nearly 50 firefighters to get the blaze under control.
The house was heavily damaged.
