HOUSTON – KHOU reported Monday night about how an apartment complex was being built next to Magnolia Cemetery, the final resting place for several notable Houstonians.

Some viewers were upset about how close the complex was to some of the headstones.

After Tuesday’s destructive fire, much of the ground around the grave is scorched.

“The owners could maybe, before they cash the check for insurance, maybe consider just a little space between the grave and the bedroom,” said Trisha Keel. “Just a little.”

The developer said Wednesday that he can’t do anything with the site until firefighters are done with the investigation, and that could take weeks or months.
