HITCHCOCK — An employee with the city of Hitchcock accidentally drove his car into a sinkhole that formed in a convenience store parking lot, authorities said.

Hitchcock Police Chief Clay Kennelly reported no injuries when the worker’s front end became stuck about 12:30 p.m. Sunday in the roughly 3-feet wide by 3-feet deep hole at Power Mart, 7802 state Highway 6.

The car wasn’t a city vehicle. One of the car’s wheels dropped in the hole all the way to the bumper, Kennelly said.
