BRAZORIA COUNTY, Texas – Two men were in custody Friday for allegedly stealing a bronze memorial statue from the grave of a Brazoria County soldier killed in Iraq.
Police said suspects Robert Oliver and Jim Rigby are from Jones Creek, the same community Specialist Phillip Cody Ford was from.
It was just one of several recent incidents where bronze was stolen from a cemetery. Police said the burglaries are due to the material’s resale value.
