Body found in Trinity River ID’d as missing Dayton-area man

HOUSTON – Liberty County Sheriff’s Deputies are investigating the death of a man whose body was found floating in the Trinity River.

Two fishermen came across the body on Aug. 31.  The next day, James Allen Graves, a 35-year-old resident of the Dayton area, was reported missing to the the Liberty County Sheriff’s Department.

On Monday, a DNA analysis by the medical examiner’s office in Beaumont confirmed the victim’s identity.  

Graves’ actual cause of death has not been determined, as the examination results by the medical examiner’s office are still pending.

Investigators are asking for anyone who may have information relative to the case to contact the Liberty County Sheriff’s Department at 936-336-4500.
