PASADENA, Texas – Pasadena ISD says it fired two employees after a student was left sleeping on a school bus.

The 7-year-old Kruse Elementary student slept through his bus stop Wednesday and woke up in the bus barn. When he didn’t show up at home as scheduled, his parents called the school.

Employees found the child still sleeping in one of the seats. The district said it has driver and monitor did not follow procedures.

“Bus drivers neglected to check their bus when they came back to transportation after finishing their urn; they got off the bus and went to leave. What happened was one of the students was left on the bus,” Renea Ivy, Pasadena ISD, said Thursday.

School officials said the child was left alone on the bus for about 30 minutes; he was asleep the whole time.
