HOUSTON -- Researchers from an environmental advocacy group looked at the water quality of 3,000 U.S. beaches.
They found that one in ten fail to meet EPA standards for swimmer safety.
They say they are contaminated by bacteria, viruses, and parasites from storm water runoff.
The worst offenders were beaches in parts of New England, the Great Lakes, and on the Gulf Coast.
