INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Tamika Catchings says she plans to play for the first time this season when the Indiana Fever face the San Antonio Stars at home 5 p.m. Saturday.
The 34-year-old Catchings told The Indianapolis Star (http://indy.st/1jRAvsl ) she missed the first 17 games of the season because of a "pinched disc" that affected nerves running down her leg.
Catchings was the league MVP in 2011, won the WNBA Finals MVP Award in 2012 and has won three Olympic gold medals. She averaged 17.7 points, 7.1 rebounds and 2.4 assists a game last year.
Coach Lin Dunn said Catchings' minutes will be monitored on Saturday.
