BERTRAM, Texas (AP) — Severe weather has spawned a tornado in Central Texas that damaged several homes and floodwaters that washed away a car and left its driver missing.
The National Weather Service says a tornado tracked across rural Burnet (BER'-net) County on Thursday night. The twister touched down near Briggs and traveled southwest toward Bertram.
Officials say a roof was torn off one house and another home was lifted off its foundation and tossed 150 yards away. Minor injuries were reported.
Waco authorities say they've found a heavily damaged car washed away by flooding Friday, but the 18-year-old driver is missing.
Abilene fire officials say three people outside for a children's parade suffered minor head injuries from large hail Thursday night. The hail also broke vehicle windows in the Abilene area.
