CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) — The U.S. Coast Guard has rescued a pilot after his small plane crashed south of Corpus Christi.
The Federal Aviation Administration alerted the Coast Guard at about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday that a civilian Cessna pilot had made a mayday call.
A Coast Guard helicopter was sent to respond and found the plane, which had crashed near Baffin Bay in South Texas.
The pilot was taken to Naval Air Station Corpus Christi, where a waiting ambulance took him to a local hospital.
The pilot, whose name was not immediately released, was in stable condition.
