4 from Texas charged in New Jersey home robbery

PARAMUS, N.J. (AP) — Three men and a woman from Texas face charges stemming from a robbery in a home in northern New Jersey.

Paramus Chief Kenneth Ehrenberg said in a statement the Houston, Texas, residents smashed a glass sliding back door, overpowered the 67-year-old homeowner and tied him up with a phone cord on Wednesday. The chief says the suspects ransacked several rooms and fled.

The homeowner managed to free himself and alert police that the suspects had driven off in a red minivan with Virginia license plates.

Police chased the vehicle before arresting the suspects in Teaneck.

The suspects are each held on $550,000 bail, charged with kidnapping, robbery and burglary.
