HURST, Texas (AP) — Police in North Texas have shot a man after he struck an officer with his minivan. The officer sustained a minor injury and the man who was shot was expected to live.

Hurst police say officers were responding to a call about an intoxicated person at an apartment complex when a 27-year-old man tried to drive away in his minivan, hitting a police officer standing in the van's doorway. The officer received a minor abrasion to his arm.

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram (http://bit.ly/1gvYiiQ ) reports that police say the man then drove his minivan toward another officer, who shot his handgun.

Police say the man, shot once in the upper body, was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Hurst is located just northeast of Fort Worth.
