LONGMONT, Colo. (AP) — A man suspected of stealing an SUV with a 4-year-old child inside and then carjacking two other vehicles during a high-speed chase near Denver is under arrest.

The suspect was arrested after fleeing the car, slipping on ice in a shopping center and failing to clear a fence this morning.

Soon after the sport utility vehicle was reported stolen earlier in the morning from a gas station, television helicopters spotted a vehicle matching that description speeding along Interstate 25. After about a half hour, the driver stopped, abandoned that car, and carjacked a minivan, taking off in it the wrong way on the highway.

Later, after apparently losing a tire on the minivan, he sideswiped another vehicle and threw the driver out of the car.
