CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) — Two South Texas men who swapped child pornography have been sentenced to prison in an investigation that started with a family fight.
A federal judge in Corpus Christi sentenced 40-year-old Carlos Cortinas to nearly 18 years in prison and Mark Anthony Stokes to almost 12 years behind bars.
Prosecutors on Tuesday said both men from Three Rivers earlier pleaded guilty to sexual exploitation of a child involving youngsters they know. Investigators say Stokes cooperated in the case in which Cortinas victimized two children.
Prosecutors say Stokes and Cortinas shared child pornography via cellphone and online images.
The investigation began last May. Police responded to a domestic violence call in which Stokes was stabbed by his wife. Investigators say she had discovered nude photos of a girl on a flash drive.
