TWIN FALLS, Idaho (AP) — A Texas stuntman says he still plans to jump the Snake River Canyon in southern Idaho despite the Twin Falls City Council denying his request to use Evel Knievel's launch point.

"Big Ed" Beckley tells The Times-News (http://bit.ly/1naGF89) that he and his team are meeting Wednesday to plan a jump from outside city limits.

He says he has a couple different locations.

The city council on Monday denied Beckley's request to lease the site where Knievel launched nearly 40 years ago.

The council cited concerns with Beckley's safety plan for the proposed September jump and whether local law enforcement could handle expected crowds.

Beckley has already paid nearly $1 million for a two-year lease on state land on the north side of the canyon as a landing site.
