MCALLEN, Texas (AP) — One man was wounded after a drug-related shooting in South Texas and police are investigating whether the shooting death of another man is linked to the incident.

The Monitor in McAllen reports (http://bit.ly/LoSBqm ) Mission Police Chief Robert Dominguez says they are investigating whether a man who was left at a nearby hospital and later died there was somehow involved.

McAllen Police Chief Victor Rodriguez says several men tried to enter the house in McAllen but did not make it past the front door as a gunfight ensued. He believes they were there to steal 1,000 pounds of marijuana.

The man who was wounded is in custody.

Rodriguez says nothing found at the crime scene or inside the home indicates ties to Mexican drug cartels or organized crime.
