KILLEEN, Texas (AP) — A Central Texas police department has fired its animal control manager amid allegations of poor care and treatment of creatures in a shelter.
Killeen police say Stacey Sherva was fired Wednesday.
Chief Dennis Baldwin says Sherva neglected her duties. Baldwin says a review found substandard management of employees and lack of care and treatment of animals under the shelter's care. He did not elaborate.
Killeen police say the search has begun to replace Sherva, who was put on administrative leave last October amid the investigation.
Sherva had been with the police department's animal control division for five years.
No publicly listed phone number could immediately be located for her.
