HOUSTON (AP) — Harris County officials say a 31-year-old man who was involved in a road-rage incident with his wife has been charged with intoxication manslaughter in the deaths of a woman and her child.
Authorities say Emil McMahon of Crosby had argued with his wife and were in separate vehicles Sept. 29 in Baytown when McMahon maneuvered his pickup to stop his wife's vehicle.
The pickup swerved into oncoming traffic, striking head-on a car driven by Tania M. Vercher of Baytown, east of Houston. Vercher and 2-year-old Alejandro Vercher were killed.
McMahon's pickup was traveling in excess of 70 mph when it struck Vercher's vehicle.
McMahon was booked into the Harris County jail Monday and has a court appearance scheduled for Thursday. Online jail records did not indicate an attorney for McMahon.
