3 charged in Humble attempted armored car holdup

HOUSTON (AP) — Three men have been charged in a 2013 attempted armored car robbery near Houston in which a guard was shot several times but survived.

The FBI and federal prosecutors in Houston on Tuesday announced the arrest of William Hendrick Williams, Stephen Carter and Bobby Gray. The case involves the Oct. 7 attempted robbery of a Garda Cash Logistics truck outside a bank in Humble (UHM'-buhl).

Investigators say an ATM was being filled when Williams demanded cash and shot the guard, but the suspects fled when guards returned fire.

The men are charged with conspiracy to interfere with commerce by robbery and interference with commerce by robbery and aiding and abetting. Williams is also charged with discharging a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.

All face federal court appearances.
