WILSON, Texas (AP) — More than 12,000 cotton bales have burned in a West Texas gin fire that could take days to extinguish.
KCBD-TV (http://bit.ly/1jismk4 ) reports the fire broke out Monday morning at Wilson County Gin and Cotton Co. in Wilson, about 20 miles south of Lubbock.
Officials say the fire apparently started outside of one of the gin's warehouses and then quickly spread indoors.
General manager Mike Tomlinson says more than 12,000 bales of cotton were destroyed. He says there may have been a small fire during processing.
Tomlinson also says it could take up to a week to put out the fire.
