Driver arrested after deputy struck by pickup

KRUM, Texas (AP) — Authorities say a person suspected of driving while intoxicated has been arrested after striking a North Texas sheriff's deputy with a pickup truck.

Sandi Brackeen, a Denton County sheriff's office spokeswoman, tells The Dallas Morning News (http://bit.ly/1jj4URi ) that the deputy was injured Saturday evening while directing traffic at an event in Krum. She says the deputy was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition.

The driver's name has not been released.

Krum, population about 3,500, is located about 50 miles northwest of Dallas.
