SAN ANTONIO (AP) — A man wanted in the hit-and-run death of a 9-year-old girl in San Antonio has been arrested while trying to cross the border into Mexico.
Authorities say 39-year-old Isidro Espinosa-Solis was arrested Friday night at the Laredo Port of Entry by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers. An arrest warrant for failing to stop and render aid involving a death had been issued earlier that day for Espinosa-Solis.
Fourth-grader Tatyana Babineaux was killed Wednesday as she walked to school. Police said that while no one saw the girl get hit, multiple witnesses described the pickup.
San Antonio police spokesman Roger Zuniga said Saturday that Espinosa-Solis was taken to Webb County jail and will eventually be extradited back to San Antonio. He did not know whether Espinosa-Solis had an attorney.
