LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) — A Lubbock police officer has shot and wounded a man who aimed a gun at him after police responded to a report of a person threatening residents with a gun.
After 33-year-old Daniel Moreno was wounded, police found two women they believed had been shot by him. Later they realized the women had instead been severely beaten.
A release Saturday from Lubbock police said that Moreno remains in critical condition and has been charged with attempted capital murder and two aggravated assaults.
The women have been released from University Medical Center.
The officer who fired at Moreno has been placed on paid administrative leave.
