GALVESTON, Texas (AP) — A second Galveston man has been indicted over the 2011 fatal shooting of a father and his 15-year-old daughter at their Southeast Texas home.

The Galveston County Daily News (http://bit.ly/19b6vrt ) reported Tuesday that Broderick Dewayne Batiste faces a capital murder count over the November 2011 slayings. Jorge and Miranda Vargas were gunned down in Texas City.

Records show Batiste was arrested Dec. 27 and requested a court-appointed attorney. Dominique Alonzo Stokes was arrested earlier on two capital murder counts. Both suspects were being held Tuesday without bond.

Authorities allege Batiste and Stokes shot Jorge Vargas during a robbery at a known drug distribution house. Stokes is also accused of killing Miranda Vargas.

Stokes faces kidnapping, robbery and other counts related to a December 2011 crime spree in Austin and Temple.
