HUMBLE, Texas (AP) — A man is facing charges after a two-hour police chase that extended over four Southeast Texas counties.
Authorities in Livingston, about 60 miles northeast of Houston, tell Houston TV station KTRK (http://bit.ly/JDmiUq) the man took off after he was confronted at a Walmart store where he was trying to break into vehicles.
Speeds hit 90 mph heading south on U.S. Highway 59 where police threw down spike strips to flatten the tires of his vehicle. By the time he got to the northeast Houston suburb of Humble the chase had slowed to between 5 and 20 mph.
The driver, whose name hasn't been immediately released, was still trying to evade police when his vehicle finally quit and he was arrested.
