PADUCAH, Texas (AP) — A West Texas principal and boys high school basketball coach has been charged with multiple counts of indecency with a child and one charge of sexual assault.

Terry County Sheriff Larry Gilbreath says 43-year-old Jay Cantrell was arrested Friday night and freed on $200,000 bond.

A statement Sunday on the Paducah Independent School District website says Cantrell was put on administrative leave with pay pending the outcome of an investigation into "allegations brought forth by students."

KCBD-TV (http://bit.ly/1dn2ETS ) in Lubbock reports Cantrell was arrested Friday in Terry County but the charges originated in Cottle County. Law officers Sunday did not immediately release further details on the investigation.

No publicly listed phone number could immediately be located for Cantrell.

Paducah is 120 miles northeast of Lubbock.
