WACO, Texas (AP) — Central Texas authorities arrested a man after he tried to run toward a wooded area after his vehicle went airborne and rolled several times following a high-speed chase.
McLennan County Chief Sheriff's Deputy Matt Cawthon tells the Waco Tribune-Herald (http://bit.ly/19Zl8fS ) the 30-minute chase ended Tuesday afternoon in a field on Interstate 35 in Waco.
He says the suspect was the target of a U.S. Marshal Fugitive Task Force investigation. Cawthon says the suspect was wanted on numerous felony charges, including evading arrest and parole violations.
Cawthon says the suspect was a passenger when the vehicle was first spotted, but as the chase began the female driver exited the car. The suspect then led officers through downtown Waco before getting on I-35.
The suspect was treated and released from a hospital.
